Take Me to the Cross

Over the last few weeks, we have observed as our Lord has been engaged in ongoing conversation with the leaders of the Jewish religious leaders.

And it may not be immediately obvious to us, but the temperature is rising in this conversation. And whereas our Lord brings much light to the conversation, his opponents bring all heat and no light. They come out swinging. They understand the urgency of the situation, that their jobs, their role in society, their reputation, all are at stake because Jesus showed the superficiality of their empty religion.

And what our Lord wants them to understand is that none of those things are what they should be concerned with. What’s really at stake is the eternal destiny of their souls.
