The Words of Life

So far in the book of John, we have seen wonder. We have gazed upon the radiance of the glory of God, Jesus Christ, Who is the brightness of His glory, who upholds all things by the word of His power. We have followed Jesus as He performs signs that reveal His unshakable authority, His tender compassion, and His far reaching Love. We have beheld our Savior who heals, and says, “take up your mat and walk!”

And yet there’s one more thing that stands out to us, stark words from John 1 that almost don’t seem to fit. “ And yet;... the people loved the darkness rather than the light”. And we see it again in John 5: “yet you refuse to come to Me that you may have life!”  Yes. The world was made through Him and yet the world did not know Him. There have been two very different ways that people respond to the teaching of Jesus Christ.
